Meditation can be hugely beneficial for a host of reasons. Some people practice meditation to give themselves a sense of calm, peace, and balance; others use it to reduce pain or increase creativity and memory. However, these aren’t things that are only valuable to everyday people, as they can help those in some of the most high-profile positions in society. Several influential figures in the business world, such as Bill Ford, the Executive Chairman of the Ford Motor Group is a huge advocate of meditation, as is the LinkedIn CEO, Jeff Wiener. It doesn’t stop there either, as a host of people from popular culture also draw upon the multi-faceted advantages that the technique can bring. But who are these celebrities that have declared their appreciation of meditation? Read on to find out. Lady Gaga The singer famous for her hit singles, Poker Face and Bad Romance turns to meditation to relax after those adrenalin-filled gigs and appearances worldwide. Her fans have also been able to follow her journey, as the singer has often shared her sessions online on social media. Oprah Winfrey The much-loved presenter and talk show host has long been a spokesperson for the benefits of connecting with her innermost thoughts and feelings. Daniel Negreanu Being in the spotlight is something that Daniel Negreanu is used to, as he’s often seen at the final table in some of the biggest poker tournaments in the world. The 47-year-old Canadian introduced mindfulness and meditation into his regimen to help during these high-pressure situations, and he’s certainly reaped the rewards. That’s because Negreanu is one of the most successful players in the game. Practicing meditation has noticeably helped his mood at the table as he’s much calmer and more present, which helps his decision-making. Negreanu says he can now acknowledge thoughts that previously he would have allowed to control him. “Over time the thoughts don’t go away, but you become better at simply noticing them and separating yourself from your minds thoughts.” Dimitri Sarantis, HeatherGrahamByDimitriSarantis2011, CC BY-SA 3.0 The actress who has featured on our screens for over three decades isn’t afraid to say she adores the effects of practicing meditation. She’s said it’s something that helps keep her centered, which is something we’ve previously highlighted as a significant benefit in our blog post on Melissa-Field.com. “I love meditation.’ Graham said. “I’m kind of high-strung, so it’s easy to get anxious, but it really calms me down. It helps me find that peaceful place inside myself. Whenever life is going a bit crazy, it helps me to be really centered.” Gage Skidmore, Arnold Schwarzenegger by Gage Skidmore 4, CC BY-SA 3.0 Meditation may not be something that people would associate with one of the most active action movie stars the world has ever seen, but it’s a favorite of Schwarzenegger. The 74-year-old former governor of California took to the techniques, and within two weeks, he could feel the difference it made to his outlook on life. He said: “I did twenty minutes in the morning and twenty minutes at night, and I would say that within fourteen days or three weeks, I got to the point where I could really disconnect my mind ... and learn how to focus more and calm down.”
