Most people have an awareness and base understanding of the concept of past lives these days.
For those more deeply interested in the metaphysical nature of themselves and life, this interest usually expands into exploring and contemplating the concept of future lives.
What we hardly ever talk about, and what has fascinated me ever since I read about it, is the concept of parallel lives. These are versions of yourself that exist now, in this time frame, but in a multitudinous variety of parallel dimensions. Essentially, an infinite number of Melissa Fields (that's me) exist in an infinite number of parallel universes along with infinite variations of you, everyone you know and are engaging with every circumstance you can imagine.
When I read this I finally began to grasp why spiritual teachers throughout the ages have always preached that we are all far more dynamic, complex and capable than we know.
Right now I'm sitting at my desk writing this. If you can imagine, in another dimension, I'm giving a talk on a stage. In another, I'm a single mother, raising a child conceived from a one night stand. In another, I'm still living in Holland and struggling to find myself there. And in another still, I never went to Holland but took my life on a completely different trajectory and took a job at a spa in Sedona.
Now, imagine that all of these variations of myself can communicate with each other. My parallel self speaking on stage, it's constantly sending me messages about how to be more confident and open. My parallel self with a child, she's telling me there are no mistakes because this child has changed my life in ways I couldn't have fathomed. Myself in Sedona, she's telling me she wishes she'd gone to Holland because she's not being challenged enough and she's kind of bored. And so on and so on.
The basis of this theory is that for every choice you face in life, whichever one you do not choose, it unfolds in one of your parallel lives. Everything in this Universe, including our thoughts and desires, are organic and constantly seeking a path to fruition and fulfillment.
So in a sense, you never miss out. Somewhere, in some dimension, you are living everything you have ever dreamed of. And now imagine each of those lives is itself an autonomous being and choosing its own path from the circumstances around it.
Something you chose to do today could be something you were looking at in a parallel life but decided not to act upon. Your other selves aren't just sending you information. They're sending you opportunities.
Beyond being a fascinating point of discussion, parallel lives are something that can enhance and assist every area of your life.
If you were to fully dive into this and fully open up your communication to your other selves imagine the wealth of information that would be at your fingertips. You could send and receive constant feedback on all things you do and receive endless waves of inspiration, motivation and input.
Did your parallel self take that job you were thinking of and hate it? Good to know! Then I won't take it! Did your parallel self learn to overcome stuttering? Great! Tell me how because you're me, and you can tell me exactly what worked! Did your parallel self make a million dollars by following their gut on a business opportunity? Praise the Lord! I almost turned that down because it scared me and seemed risky!
When I read about parallel lives the book talked about accessing them through deep states of meditation. It involves going into a deep meditative state, and then moving out and sideways to explore the various possibilities. If that sounds impossible and way beyond your abilities, don't worry!
We are constantly communicating with our parallel selves through dreams.
If you've ever dreamed of something totally random and wondered where it came from and why, there's a possibility it was an exchange of information between dimensions. If that information shook you so much that you acted upon it, then you can surely bet that was you sending you a message.
The best way to open up this type of communication is to believe you can. So often we hear something like this, that we have parallel lives in other dimensions, and we feel that's something only super mystical people can work with after years of study. This lack of belief in all of our own mystical nature is simply that - a belief. You aren't just a multi-dimensional being. You are one born with all the gifts and talents necessary to work with these aspects of yourself. You just have to believe it.
