My friend Rachael and I are always talking about the power of the words "I am." Whatever you put after "I am...." is going to define who you are. I got a wonderful reminder of this recently from my niece, Aby. This past weekend we were at the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk. She's always walking around saying, "I am lucky." And like magic, all weekend lucky things kept happening to her. She got on a ride she was too short for. She found money. She got free tickets TWICE in the arcade. She won a stuffed bunny in a claw machine. Have you ever seen someone win from a claw machine? That right there was enough to get me to stop and take notice. As we walked home with her arcade prizes I was thinking how often I use the words "I am" to my advantage. Yes, I understand it's important to use them in a positive way. But I realized I don't do it enough so that it's leading me closer to ever greater things. And rest assured things can always get better. Which isn't to say we should always seek more and feel unsatisfied. It's just a fact that things can always grow and expand. Use "I am" to your advantage. Harness the power of your mind and your beliefs and watch magic unfold in your life. Have a little experiment with it and see what shows up. The more you say it and put it out the Universe the more it will just be who you are. So don't be afraid to repeat "I am love" or "I am success" all day everyday (or try repeating it as you fall asleep). It'll change your life. I am participating in the 100 Happy Days Challenge. I took some lovely photos of flowers today for day 1 because I adore seeing and smelling flowers when I walk. If you want to do this also go to http://100happydays.com/. Each day for 100 days post a photo of something that made you happy to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Hashtag your post with #100HappyDays and then explore what others have posted!
I would like to update this post to note that I finished the project, and it was really a life-changing experience. I highly recommend it. Going about your day, noticing the little things that make you happy, and then sharing them will change your perspective and get you in the habit of noticing what you're grateful for. It takes no extra time, and the end result will be very fulfilling. Hop on over to the 100happydays page to sign up and see what it inspires in your life! |
