Right now, May 30th 2016, Mars is the closest it's been in 11 years. For the amateur astronomers out there, this is a fun little fact. However, there's more to this planetary alignment than just a brighter dot in our night sky. There's a shift in energy that happens because of it. If you've been feeling that something is going on, but you can't quiet explain what or why, it could have to do with this conjunction. I've personally been feeling stuff I suppressed come roaring up, charging into my face and demanding I DEAL WITH it and be DONE WITH IT. I have been feeling an up swell of anger too. If something has been bothering me but I kept letting it go, I can't right now. It's making me irate and like I said, it must be dealt with or I'm going to Hulk out. This anger is important - more on that and it's connection to Mars in a bit. Right now, you might be thinking that you've never heard of Mars coming close and affecting our planetary energy. You know all about Mercury retrograde. Perhaps you've dabbled with solar flares. But Mars? Does it really matter where Mars is in the sky? I think it does. I can't say for sure because astrology is still in its infancy. Because astrology is pretty much disregarded as fluff it's still rather mysterious and vague. Further adding to this is the fact that what's happening is highly personal. How this affects me is different than how it affects you. Not an easy thing to make a science of. Perhaps the biggest reason we disregard astrology is because we've forgotten our place in the cosmic whole. We've forgotten that we are connected to everything, and that everything is inside of us. We are born from stars and we will die in a star (when the sun expands and swallows us up). Despite this, we have a very limited view of our place in the Universe, and because of this, a limited view of the things that affect us. For the most part we are aware that the Earth affects us. We know that winter can make us feel more introverted and summer can brighten our moods. We know that being near the ocean on a warm day feels different than being high up on a cool mountain plateau. We know we are creatures of the Earth. And yet, deep down, we also know we are creatures of this solar system. It isn't just Earth that's home. It's the star we orbit around. It's the entire galaxy. It's everything. So if the entire Universe is home, and we are connected to every corner of it, why is it we have such limited ability to believe our planetary neighbors can sway our moods and open energetic gateways within us? Right now, I'm quiet sure something is happening, and I want answers. I want to know more because let's be frank: knowledge is power. The more we know the more we can use that information to our advantage. If this energy is pressing upon me and trying to get something to happen I would love to be able to tune into that and use it like a rocket thrust, pushing me forwards further and faster. So I've done a little research and found a little about Mars, and what might be happening right now. So my fellow cosmic wave riders, here's what I found about Mars, in my own words: Mars is a planet of instant action. The energy of Mars is all about unbridled passion, about drive and motivation. It is not a planet of hesitation. The energy is so potent it can border on aggression. This is the energy that says get it done, and get it done now. When I found out that Mars can bring in an aggressive energy it explained all this anger that had suddenly come up in me. I would say that along with being angry, I suddenly became intolerant to things I'd wanted to deal with but just didn't. I was suddenly setting firm boundaries and saying what I really thought.
It's kind of funny that this energy was all about anger for me, since Mars is the red planet. There really can be a clearing away that happens when we let that anger rise up and then burn through us. Fire is a powerful element. Fire can swiftly clear away the old, and fire in itself is a form of fuel. The fire within me fueled me up to get going and get clear about where I was going. I also felt this energy pushing me right into action. I have been feeling the energy lately of I'm willing to do whatever it takes. Nothing is too scary or too far outside my comfort zone for me to achieve my dreams these days. If it needs to be done, I'm there. Whatever you've been feeling lately, you'll probably get waves of it for a few more weeks. Mars will remain rather close and large until mid-June. And if you feel as if this energy is having a KABOOM affect on you also, get ready for more of it. This is such great energy to feel fired up and encouraged in taking big steps in life, and we're going to get more of it in 2018. At that time, Mars will come even closer! So my friends, I hope you found this interesting. But even more so, I hope I've encouraged you to ask questions, explore, study and find your own insights about this magical Universe. The answers are out there, and we will find them the same way Copernicus and Galileo did. By daring to dream and put forth new and seemingly wild ideas. Your friends might think it's weird. Some people might snark about it being silly or pointless. But you have no idea what important things you will find, things that could open thought platforms that people build on for generations to come. Does that sound like a big leap to make? If so, then consider that's exactly how astronomy started. Astronomy was once disregarded as an entirely sacrilegious practice. The Earth not the center of the Universe? Blasphemy! We've come a long ways since then because some people dared to wonder, to pose questions, to explore, and above all, be curious about life and the Universe.
