Episode Transcript
Hello and welcome to the Healing Sanctuary! I’m your host Melissa Field, and this week I’m talking about gratitude. Next Thursday is the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States, and it’s a time when a lot of people embrace and express the feeling of gratitude. Gratitude is truly a powerful emotion that can serve many different purposes. It can help us to feel closer to people, because when we let others know we appreciate them and why we do, we deepen our connection to them. It can also help us to shift our mood and to perhaps take our focus off of what’s bringing us down and to put it back onto what brings us joy and lights us up. And it can also help us to feel better in general, because studies have shown that practicing gratitude improves health and well-being, both mentally and physically.
I myself tend to go through phrases of practicing a lot of gratitude, and then forgetting to do it for long periods, and then getting back into it. I struggle with maintaining a regular practice, and that’s something I would like to work on as I begin setting intentions for the next year.
As we begin the practice, I’m going to play some light music. I’m going to ask you a question, and then I’ll give you some time to reflect on your answer. I’ll be sure and put these gratitude questions in a PDF for you to download in case you would like to journal on these prompts more later.
I’m going to have you begin by taking a few deep breaths. See yourself breathing into your heart, and allow your breath to anchor you into that beautiful space of love and healing within you. Breathe deep into your heart, and let the healing energy of your heart flow out through your entire body and mind.
When it comes to your friendships, who are you grateful for and why?
Who is the most supportive person in your life? What do you appreciate about this person?
What is a place you’ve visited that you are grateful to have seen in person?
What do you appreciate most about that trip?
What quality about your personality are you most grateful for?
What is something difficult you went through that you’re grateful for because of how it changed you or because of what you learned from it?
What is something in your childhood that you’re grateful to have experienced or to have had in your life?
Who is someone in your family, past or present, that you are grateful for? Why do you appreciate this person?
When you reflect back on this year, what experiences are you most grateful to have had?
When you reflect back on this year, who are you most grateful to have had in it? Why are you grateful for this person at this particular time?
When you look ahead to the coming year, what do you want to experience? Give gratitude for it as if it’s already happening.
And now, let whatever gratitude you have in your heart come forward. Give gratitude for anything and everything you feel called to.

Thank you so much for joining me for this beautiful and soul nourishing gratitude practice. I would like to finish by inviting you to join a donation based Reiki healing I’ll be co-hosting next Thursday, the 25th. It will be a wonderful way to refresh your energy, lift your spirits, and feel calm and supported as we move further into the holiday season. As I said, it’s donation based, so for as little as $1 you can join. You’ll get 20 minutes of distance Reiki healing, plus an exclusive meditation made especially for this healing circle. If you’re wondering if you missed it and when I recorded this, don’t worry, because this is an ongoing event that happens every month. So just follow the link in my episode notes to find out when the next one is, and as of this recording the next one is November 25th.
If you’re wondering if you’ll be available then or not, we got you covered, because everyone who signs up receives this divine healing energy, no matter where they are or what they’re doing. And also, whether or not you sit and meditate with us, you’ll be able to keep the meditation that’s included for life, and that meditation will be infused with all the healing energy of that day. Once again, you can join by going to the link in my episode notes. You can also go to melissa-field.com or connect with on Instagram @meditate_with_melissa. I love doing these monthly Reiki healings, it’s something I genuinely look forward to because I feel so nourished and restored after, and I genuinely hope you’ll join us and we’ll see you there. Thank you so much for listening and supporting The Healing Sanctuary. I’m Melissa Field, and I’m grateful for you and the time and energy you give to this podcast.
