Without trying, this photo captures what it means to say your "flaws" make you special and unique. My eyes continually go back to the painting in the middle row, second from the right. You too, right? That is the painting I would buy from all the ones created here. It's the only one that's different and captures that thing you can't describe, that thing that we instinctually feel, that thing in us that reminds us that to stand out from the crowd is amazing and powerful.
It also captures how I've been feeling lately. I am the imperfect wine glass, and I think it's pretty fucking great. I love that painting, and I love that woman for having shown up, created it, and shared it. She's totally bad ass, and she probably doesn't even know it.
If you've been following my 100 Day Video Journey (or pretty much anything I've written here in the last few weeks), you know I've been struggling with the concept of putting myself and my work out there, and celebrating all of it, just as it is. I've been working through perfection-itis, reclaiming my ability to love myself in all moments, and embracing the fact that when something doesn't turn out how I planned, it's probably even better and all I need is to get over my ego and stop trying to control everything.
So yeah, I totally love this photo. I love everyone who made it possible. And if you know the woman who painted that wine glass, please let her know she has an interested buyer for her painting.
I absolutely adore the picture below. Just gaze at the picture, and notice which painting your eyes keep coming back to. Which one stands out?
