“Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb.” Above is one of my all time favorite quotes, and one I return to repeatedly. It can be applied to so many situations, but for me, it has a very spiritual meaning. During the last few years I've been learning to embrace the idea that meditation and spiritual ascension is not leading to a certain destination. This can be a hard thing to grasp as we so often think in terms of goals and end results. Everything I do in life generally has a start and a finish, a tangible moment of when I've done or achieved what I wanted and I can then move onto the next thing. But the more I dove into meditation, energy healing, ascension and understanding how I am the Universe and the Universe is me, the more it all seemed to unfold bigger and wider, in this never ending spiral of expansion. It seemed like for every step I took the finish line moved forward also. To think of spirituality in terms of a never ending journey at first overwhelmed me. Although my life was getting better, I felt so lost because I did't feel like I was getting it. As I came to understand there was nothing to get, and that there was no finish line, I began to feel better. I have found so much solace in Winston's words, and I now think of it as he said it, as "the joy and glory of the climb." Happy weekend everyone, and may these words touch your soul also and light up your path as they did mine.
