Are you a Christmas movie person, or do you hit skip every year? I have to admit, I have been converted to being a full on Christmas movie fan. I love them all, including some of the sillier ones, like the Princess Switch (which is now on its third switch, and I'm halfway through my viewing!).
I've been watching long enough to remember the one where a woman goes through her dryer to a parallel universe. I loved the concept of her dryer being a portal to another dimension. So, when you think your socks are disappearing into thin air, you might actually be right!
Last weekend, I finished my first Christmas movie of the year, Candy Coated Christmas. It's actually a Discovery + original, and it was great to see other channels putting their own spin on Christmas movies. It was an adorable movie and everything I hoped it would be. I give it five out of five candy canes! And of course, extra peppermint bonuses for getting a cameo from Ree Drumond, who is famous for a lot, but I know her as one of the judges on the Christmas Cookie Challenge.
I'm also happy to see these movies finally embracing some much needed diversity. Last year, there were several Christmas movies with gay leads, which has been long overdue. All families deserve to see themselves represented in unrealistic, happily ever stories! I hope to see this trend continuing, and holiday movies representing all people.
