I have this little book on my desk now, Yosemite Meditations. If you've ever been to Yosemite it will come as no surprise to you that many people find it a powerful source of inspiration and meditation. For the past few days I've picked up the book and randomly opened it to a page. I love how this little pocketbook continually offers me a moment to change my perspective, pause, admire a place I love, and breathe. I am always on the lookout for easy and quick ways anyone, including myself, can sneak meditation into their day. Meditation, like most things that can improve our health and bring us more happiness, is something we often think, "Tomorrow I'll do that." However, if you spend one minute of your day, just one minute, in quiet reflection you will improve your mood, which will make your body feel better, which will in turn make your mind and spirit feel better, and these things will build on each other, which can have a ripple affect as far as you let it go. Taking time to get quiet, reflect and breathe deep will re-energize you, open you up to new and refreshed inspiration, lower stress, put your focus on what feels good, and so much more. One way you can easily slip some meditation into your life is with this little book. When my copy arrived in the mail I was delighted with the size of it. You can carry this in your purse, your travel bag or just keep a copy sitting on your desk (as I'm doing now). As you make your daily commute you might take it out each morning, look at one of the beautiful photographs, breathe deep, and then set it aside. In that moment you will feel yourself ground and reconnect. The quotations are short and can be reflected upon for as long as you choose, but the feeling you get from it will stay with you long after you set the book down again. One of my favorite things about it is how it gives me a renewed and much needed sense of perspective. I love that I can see the grand majesty of Yosemite national park as I gaze at the photos. And yet because this is a pocketbook, I can also reflect on who I am in relation to what I'm holding, which is a wonderful meditation in itself. So for one minute a day, set aside your smartphone, tablet and all other electronic devices and open up Yosemite Meditations. Take a minute to absorb the natural beauty of each photograph. Read one quote, or read several, and let your mind wander. With this beautiful little pocketbook you can connect to the magnificent splendor that is our natural world without going anywhere. It's hard to beat the beauty of Yosemite National park. If you've been you'll enjoy revisiting through the photographs, and if you haven't been, this might inspire you to make your first trip there. It's a place you'll never forget. There are two other books in this series: Yosemite Meditations for Adventurers and Yosemite Meditations for Women. I was peaking inside them and the quotes are so great. I might have to add both of those to my collection next! The book I'm holding is the tenth anniversary edition, which be released September 9th. However, you can pre-order it now (it's been updated with more quotes and photographs), or check out the other books in the series I linked to above. Happy meditating :)
