“You are an aperture through which the universe is looking at and exploring itself.”
― Alan W. Watts
New York City, circa the 1970's (date & photographer unknown)
This is a photo of New York City in the 1970's. I found the above quote from Alan Watts, and when I put it with the photo I saw so much more beauty in the people, the city, everything about it. The photo itself intrigued me because I could spend all day wondering what New York was like back then. But when I consider that each of those people is a unique expression of the Universe, that each one is the Universe exploring itself in a new way, I fall in love with this picture even more.
So often I want to post a photo that I think is "spiritual" that involves someone in a field, enjoying nature, or someone doing yoga and being serene. This photo and quote together so perfectly capture that feeling that life IS the spiritual experience. There is no right or wrong way to be spiritual. In fact, the less we try to force it the more we let life unfold and express itself in its myriad of brilliant, unexpected and colorful ways.
