Recently, I went to an event in Irvine called the 333 Tibetan Healing Bowl Experience. They really did have 333 bowls, but not all were played at once (until the end - and it was quiet the experience!). The majority of the night consisted of bowls being played by their frequency in a certain order. The order was based on the chakras, and so we started with the base chakra and concluded with the crown chakra. With each chakra the leader, Dr. Dream, talked about what this portion of the body connects to in the emotional spectrum (e.g. the solar plexus associates with creativity and self-esteem). The idea that our emotions connect to certain parts of our body is something we're only beginning to understand. It's an important thing to study though because so much physical healing is rooted in an emotional conflict or crisis. This philosophy also ties into why so many people enjoy yoga. For the most part, people feel they enjoy yoga because it gets them breathing deep, stretching their body and strengthening their core muscles. However, yoga does so much more. Yoga unblocks these emotional energies that have gotten stuck in the body. Although our thoughts and feelings can create ailments in our body, we cannot think our way back into health. Changing our thoughts will prevent things from worsening, but what's been done on the level of the body must be reversed through the body. And of course, when you change your thoughts to more positive ones you accelerate this healing. Sound healing does much of the same thing as yoga. If you've never tried it I highly recommend it. There's so much to be discovered here, and because it's so new, you'll have that exciting feeling of exploring the unknown. Sound itself is vibration. It's easy to grasp the fundamental power of sound to heal considering EVERYTHING in this Universe is vibration. If you want to speak to your body, speak to it through frequency and vibration. Your cells already are vibrating. Imagine if you played a sound that cleared your mind and went right through your cells. Not only would they pick up that vibration and begin to vibrate at that rate also, but it would have a "shaking lose effect." If there's something stuck, the waves of sound vibration are going to break it free. There are many other types of sound healing besides tibetan bowls. I've tried healing forks and I love how they feel. If you can attend a class with a gong don't miss it! Many meditation classes incorporate gongs, and there's some yoga ones that do also. The amazing thing about this event is that the people playing the bowls walked around through the crowd. As we sat with our eyes closed, reflecting on the mantra for each chakra, the associated bowls were played. They were held besides our head and I could really feel the tangible nature of the vibrations coming off. At one point the bowl was placed on my head and it was like the energy was pouring down me. At the end of the night all of the bowls were played at once. It was a strange sound, like a spaceship taking off, but I liked it. It felt like waves of love were rushing into me and I was falling down, deep into the center of myself. The next day I woke up feeling so much more positive and energized. I could feel something had shifted in me, and I could see it had in my friend too. Just imagine becoming the way you used to be as a very young child, before you understood the meaning of any word, before opinions took over your mind. The real you is loving, joyful, and free. The real you is just like a flower, just like the wind, just like the ocean, just like the sun.
