After I made my post below on accepting yourself I went on Facebook. I saw my friend Annette in Swizterland had shared her "It Gets Better" video there. She's a beautiful soul and full of laughter and light. Her video on accepting yourself and being different is really honest and from the heart. Have a look!

It seems fitting that I should follow up a post on LOST with one from Once Upon a Time. I love the symbolism in Once Upon a Time and discussed how it reflects life and the world here. My favorite episode that relates to a person's life journey was "Lost Girl" from season 3. Peter Pan had given Emma a map, but the only way she could read it was to accept herself, all of herself, especially the parts she denied. She spent most of the episode asking, "Who am I really?" When she finally admitted that which she denied, that in the foster system she "felt like a lost little girl who didn't matter, and never would," she saw the map transform and she could read it. Getting the key to the map was crucial for her to use it not only as she intended (to find her son Henry) but also in finally accepting her past and being able to move beyond it to her new life. This is so true of each of us also. The only way to get what you really want in life, to get where you want to go, is to accept yourself.
Acceptance is freedom and also the key to unlocking your passions, strength, and energy. It can be the greatest struggle of your life, but also the most worthwhile one. I still miss this show. LOST was the first show I was a true fan of, tuning in each week to see if I could get another piece of the mystery. My favorite character was John Locke, and I love this quote which he said to Charlie during his struggle with heroine withdrawal.
I've had this prayer card in my wallet for so long I can't remember acquiring it. It's been with me for about 20 years now, which is rather incredible. The thing that surprises me about it is every so often I'll pull it out and the person with me will say, "Oh, I carry that card too!" It's always a person who is in no way religious but feels better having this card.
Although in truth the concept of a Guardian Angel has nothing to do with religion. It's something we're all born with and can call on at anytime. If you are ever feeling alone or in doubt pull up this image, read the prayer, and know that it was heard. This beautiful and impressive video comes from Mary Doodles Youtube page. When we are transitioning to the next phase of our life one symbol we can look to is the phoenix. The phoenix, in mythology, would rise from the ashes of its predecessor. It's an apt symbol for total destruction, seeing our lives going up in smoke, only to find something even better arises in its place. I think this is also a good story to turn to when we have a fear of change, as the change is necessary in this story for the thing that's meant to be born to come forth. Do you need a little pick me up or a moment of zen? Maybe this blog post featuring the latest art of Andy Goldsworthy will help: http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/andy-goldsworthy-land-art. It's very calming, beautiful and grounding as it's all created in and with nature.
